The Church Inn lies in the village of Chelmorton between the market towns of Buxton and Bakewell.Own transport is recommendd as there is very little in the way of public transport. The nearest train station is 5 miles away in Buxton and the bus routes are twice a day to Buxton and Bakewell. The transpeak bus operates from nearby but does not actually come in to the village. Details of various taxi operators can be advised upon request. The nearest shop is 5 miles away in Buxton. Here you will find various retail shops, banks and other services. This property is not suitable for persons with mobility problems as several steps have to be negotiated to access the car park and bar area.
ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES
We have a car park situated at the rear of the pub for bed and breakfast guests only, each room is allocated 1 space. The car park is grassed with a mesh famework to prevent skidding. A pathway of stone flags leads to a small patio and seating area. From the car park are a series of 10 steps with a hand rail followed by a large patio area constrycted of stone fags. At this level we have the entrance to the rooms.It has its own entrance and is completely seperate to the rest of the pub.The car park and patio areas are lit from dusk until dawn. There are several seating areas stricty for residents use only, followed by a further 10 steps down into the bar and eating areas.Dogs other than guide dogs are not allowed into the bedrooms.
MAIN ENTRANCE AND BEDROOMS
On arrival please make your way into the main entrance to the pub. From the road side there is a slight incline up a terraced path to the front door. To the left is an outside terrace where you can eat and drink. There is a retracting canopy to provide cover for smokers. The floor in the doorway is tiled and extends into the bar area. The dining area to the right is carpeted. At the bar you can check in. From here you will be shown the way to your room. There are another series of steps with a handrail up onto the patio which leads to the annex and we will explain where and how to get to the car park. The bedroom annex has four rooms at silver 4* English Tourist Board accredited rating. Three double ensuites and one twin ensuite that can also be made into a double. All having central heating, bedside cabinets, wall lamps, wardrobe, remote control television, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, shaving plug, alarm clocks, shoe cleaning and sewing kits. All beds have duvets but blankets can also found in the rooms. Hand washing soap, shower gel and shampoo are also provided. All rooms have windows onto the ground floor and can be used as a fire escape route. A fire warning system approved by the Derbyshire fire officer is in place in each room together with emergency lighting. From the rooms there are 2 means of escape clearly marked with green fire escape signs. Each room has a fire procedure notice detailing instructions relating to a fire.
There are no lifts or escalators.
There is a public pay phone in the bar area.
The lighting is subtle with wall lights and lamps in the windows.
Seating for up to 60 people.
We have a darts board and dominoes are also available on request.
The public toilets are located at the right end of the bar.
The gents is on the level but for a small step of 10cm up in the doorway. A short corridor before entering the urinals and a door to the left with a 10cm step down into the cubicle. Hand wash basin with hot water, soap and paper towels are provided.
The ladies toilets are on the level floor with two cubicles, a baby changing unit, wash basin with hot water, soap and paper towels. The toilets lead through a small lobby where there is a side door onto the front of the pub.Emergency lighting and fire warning alarms are in place throughout the building and are all linked together.
The dining area is 4 meters by 6 meters. Fixed seating down both sides of the room with occasional chairs down the inner aisle. An electric coal effect fire heats the dining area and directly opposite in the bar area is a real log burning stove. Food can be ordered from the covered menu or from the specials board, which changes daily. Drink orders are taken at the bar and food orders will be taken by a member of staff at the table. Food is served 12 noon till 2.30pm and again 6.00pm till 8.30pm Monday to Thursday and 12.00pm noon till 8.30pm Friday to Sunday. Food is prepared freshly on the premises daily using local produce and currently the enviornmental health authroity has awarded us a five star rating for health and hygiene standards.
For residents a small dining room serving four tables is located to the left of the bar area. There are three steps up on to a tiled floor. An electric coal effect stove heats the room. A selection of fruit juices, cereals, toast and jams are available together with a selection of hot food, tea and coffee. Requests can be made for individual needs.
Rooms are to be vacated by 10.00am, unless otherwise arranged.
Payment to be made at time of check out by credit/debit card or cash. We also ask for a 25.00 pound deposit.
